Unless they allow compatibility with Firefox addons, Chrome can gtfo.

It's good, and I was using it today, and it would be rape with addons...but without them, meh.

It's a browser. It shows the internet. I do not understand the nerdgasms over it.

Nice and really fast, but also missing way to many features for me to be using it for now. But I will definitely be checking for updates.

Like mentioned before, it needs RSS, and Bookmark sync across computers (they even had extensions for FF2) for start.

It's fast yeah but that's just about it really. FF3 is still better.

AFAIK, it's 100% Open source. If there was spyware, the blogsphere would have a fit and put google's head on a pike.

Using it now, not much difference, tbh.

Prefer FF.

It's nice, but it definitely needs work.
It is extremely annoying when you close all tabs the entire browser closes, hopefully they'll just let you show the "homepage".
And of course add-ons would make it soo much better.

-edit-
Also, the logo is ugly... When I see it in my taskbar it looks like I'm playing Uno.

shut up, what are you talking about

i mean YOU CAN'T ACTUALLY PRESS A BUTTON TO MAKE IT COME DOWN IE/FF STYLE

I MEAN TRY HITTING THE ADDRESS BAR BUTTON IN FIREFOX SOMETIME BEFORE YOU START MAKING ACCUSATIONS

IF YOU CAN GET A PROPER POPDOWN ADDRESS BAR WITHOUT TYPING SOMETHING KINDLY SCREENSHOT AND FILL MY PM BOX UP WITH IT AND I'LL ADMIT I'M WRONG

(otherwise, i'm right)

Yeah, that's what I want to know, too. It's too hyped out. Except web browsers show webpages posted properly on the Internet.

OK, I'm assuming you're not completely technical, so I'll explain this as down to earth as I can just cause IDK how technical minded you are and Etta obviously didn't take time to research this at all just like a bunch of other people.

OK so basically, a normal browser (read: every other one) runs 1 process. It's basically just one thing running, with tabs. However, in a normal browser, each tab is still just a part of that 1 process, which means if you run a javascript thing in one tab, and it hangs or crashes it will crash all the tabs (and your browser). Additionally, you really can't do anything else very well in these type of browsers when a javascript or movie is running because it slows down the other tabs.

Chrome doesn't do this. Each tab is its own process. This has the benefits of if a tab crashes, the other tabs don't crash, you can run stuff in other tabs at full speed if a movie or javascript thing is running in another tab, and it really benefits even more if you have dual/quad cores since the tabs can run on separate cores.

Next, Chrome is 100% sandboxed. Basically, when you run Chrome, it creates a sandbox (so-to-speak), and everything you do in Chrome is run from that sandbox. This is really hard to explain, but basically whatever you do in Chrome, stays in Chrome. People are going googoo eyed over NoScript, but they don't realize that with how Chrome is programmed and setup, NoScript isn't really going to do jack shit for you in Chrome. Nothing in Chrome is allowed access to your PC, because for all intents and purposes Chrome isn't being ran in the same area where your PC is it's given its own private spot. It's basically a jail. Nothing is allowed out. The instant you close it, all tracks of it being ran vanish for the most part. Just with sandboxing alone (if you want to read more, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sandbox...uter_security), makes Chrome well over 100 times more secure than FireFox, Opera, and IE. It pretty much has NoScript built in...the scripts will try to run, but they won't be able to do anything because Chrome is sandboxed.

Chrome also has an improved JavaScript handler. This doesn't mean much to you unless you use a lot of javascript stuff, but it has improved performance on that stuff by a load.

Every other browser is written using the standard Windows style thing of controls. The problem with this is that they allow the lowest trusted stuff to write stuff to your PC (like say, let something you put on VERY LOW TRUST to write to your PC's harddrive and put a virus on it), but Chrome is written so that untrusted stuff can't write to your PC at all. Combined with sandboxing, you're basically 100% safe.

Those are basically the 4 things that make it special, unfortunately most people are too dumb to look it up and actually research what makes it different (jesus they made a comic JUST for this) (not talking about you btw, talking about others.) or not technology apt so they don't get it or don't care (but then a lot of them say LOL JUST THE SPEED THATS IT). It's less about the speed (tho that is great), but that it's infinitely more secure than Opera or FireFox, and that's without plugins. That's what the nerdgasms are for, is that it's fast & mostly because it's an uber secure browser that makes Opera & FF & IE all look bad on Day 1 because it actually keeps user security in mind (if you can give me a reason why untrusted stuff should be allowed to write stuff to my computer, I'll give you a cookie) while still being fast and functional and made very good movements towards security that no other browser really has yet.

Quick question, when said tab does crash, does it attempt or ask if you want to attempt a reload?

Sorry, another question. Is this what they mean by "Incognito Mode"?

I know some of these are being worked on but until they do, I'll be sticking to Firefox.

Just hit enter in the address bar.

Nein. Incognito Mode just hides stuff from history and the Omnibar. Both are sandboxed.

OK your choice (I don't care). I'd rather be safe and fast, personally.

This made me have a nerdgasm over it: http://www.google.com/googlebooks/chrome/

I wonder if they can get FF to catch up on some of these ideas. I'm very happy with FF3 because it's fast as I want for now. I think chrome totally copied opera by having a speed dial page when you open a new blank tab.

The only thing that is pissing me off about this is no language selection.

I'm stuck with the chinese version because my operating system is in chinese.

BTW i checked the help section and all the options, NO LANGUAGE SELECTION]

GOOD JOB GOOGLE!!!

Edit: Fixed it by changing languages in control panel, but the option to select a language from download menu is still nice to have.

WTB firefox extensions and RSS feeds

I missed my add-ons too much to use it longer than 5 minutes.

And I really don't see how its any faster than FF...
